Therapy & Coaching

As a therapist, I work with teens, adults, couples, and families. I also provide executive and life coaching. I specialize in improving your relationships, effectiveness, emotion regulation skills, communication patterns, leadership skills, capacity to parent, love, and feel confident. I personalize my approach for each client and tailor our sessions so you can become the highest version of yourself.

Rather than focusing solely on diagnoses, I identify your strengths and the patterns that keep you stuck. I help you feel seen and empowered. I then help you learn new skills to expand your capacity to overcome challenges. I draw from a variety of evidence-based treatments to help you meet your goals, helping you navigate the world with more confidence.

Are you taking clients?

Yes! Please e-mail me at atina.manvel@gmail.com or fill out this survey if you are interested in working with me.

What are your rates?

I charge $300/hr for individual sessions and $350/hr for couple/family sessions.

Do you take insurance?

I do not take insurance upfront because of the low reimbursement rates and administrative burden. However, reimbursement may be possible through your health insurance, especially if you have a PPO (preferred provider organization) or POS (point of service) plan. Plans that provide out-of-network coverage might reimburse you for a portion of our session costs. As a first step, I recommend calling your insurance company to ask about reimbursement rates for out-of-network clinical psychologists.

If your insurance plan does provide partial reimbursement, then, after our session, I will provide you with a receipt of our session (called a Superbill) that you can submit with your claim for partial reimbursement. You can submit claims through your insurance's portal or through the Reimbursify app, which makes it easy! Please message me if you have any questions about this process as it can be confusing.

How do you work with clients who are different from you?

My personal experiences as an Iranian-Armenian immigrant, interfaith marriage, and work with underprivileged communities have taught me the importance of cultural humility— being committed to lifelong learning. I work hard to understand each person’s cultural and familial background. I work to understand you, help you understand yourself, and encourage you to move toward your values.
